The Jayco Story

Like many great ideas, it started with a desire to build something better. For founder Lloyd J. Bontrager that something happened to be RVs. Lloyd started Jayco on his farm in 1968. He designed his own prototype camping trailer and a one of a kind lifter system for fold-down campers. The basic design he used was soon after patented and is still in use today. The company started with only 15 employees has grown to over 1,600. Though he has passed, Lloyd's vision of "to build exemplary RVs and provide customers with extraordinary care after the sale" lives on. It's this vision that is at the core of the separating factors between Jayco and other manufacturers.

Quality Craftsmanship

How do they instill that original vision today? It starts with their foundation. Literally. Other manufacturers modify, or weld stock frames, which can actually weaken foundations. The foundations found on any Jayco RV, trailer, or hauler are custom manufactured giving higher strength and durability to each unit. Each rig also comes with their "Climate-Shield" ultimate weather protection. You should be able to enjoy your camper for more than just the pleasant months of the year. There is no length to camping season as "Climate-Shield" protects against extreme heat up to 100 degrees and extreme cold as low as zero degrees (Fahrenheit).

Quality Ride

Jayco knows that the journey is just as important as the destination, so they’ve developed their very own driving and handling package called JRide. It comes with most of their RVs and is a mixture of refined stability and precise handling guaranteed to make every ride as smooth as possible. JRide features vary by model, but here’s a glimpse of what they are and what they do.

- Shock absorbers: React to bumps and cracks in the road to help eliminate bounce and sway.

- Hellwig Helper Springs: Designed to provide a rigid ride by preventing the chassis from sagging from excessive weight. They self-regulate and are easier to maintain than airbag suspension.

- Rubber Isolation Mounts: Located near tires to absorb road shock. They work like the cartilage in your body by simply preventing things from rubbing upon one another. This helps reduce road noise and some small vibrations throughout your RV.

- Stabilizer bars: Connect opposite wheels with short lever arms. The levers raise and lower each side of the unit to similar heights, which reduces sideways tilt around tight corners.
