How Do You Prevent Condensation and Mold Inside Your RV?

The climate in the Pacific Northwest can be a challenge for your RV. The transition from rain to heat and other conditions can cause mold and condensation inside your camper or trailer. How can you prevent mold and condensation from ruining your RV?
According to RV Share, there are 10 effective ways to do so. Here is a list compiled by the website of the things you need to do.
1. Warm Things Up
2. Invest in a Dehumidifier
3. Put Your Vent Fans to Use
4. Open a Window
5. Avoid Hanging Things to Dry Indoors
6. Skip the Propane Furnace
7. Change the Way You Cook
8. Use the on-site bathrooms
9. Cover the Windows
10. Check the Cabinets
They sound like common-sense items. However, they are essential not only for the integrity of your RV, but for your health and well-being. The most important thing to consider is that condensation and mold can significantly impact the lifespan of your RV. You must always thoroughly inspect your RV to combat these issues.
If you store your RV outside without any protection, colder temperatures can encourage condensation and the growth of mold. One idea to avoid this is to match the climate inside your RV with the outside temperature. A climate-controlled indoor storage unit would also be beneficial in this regard. Or, perhaps, taking it to a warmer climate – southbound on Interstate 5 and eastward in the southwest.
One place condensation can sometimes appear is in the windows. RV Share suggests using a window film inside the panes to fight this. There are other products available that will have the same results. You can also replace your windows with double-pane units. Alternatively, you can even order your new RV with the double-pane windows from the start.
What if you find condensation in your RV, especially when it is in storage? RV Share suggests using an RV moisture absorber product to stop it. They further said that “products of this type offer RV moisture control by absorbing any moisture that does collect in your RV.” That means using this product particularly in closets and cabinets, as well as in the shower, toilet, sink, and kitchen area.
