OUR STORY
More than 50 years of adventure
Peace and love were in the air, and so was entrepreneurial spirit. In 1968, Lloyd and Bertha Bontrager set out to make a family dream a reality in their quiet corner of Northern Indiana. What started as a small, family-driven vision quickly grew into something bigger, rooted in craftsmanship, innovation and a passion for the open road. Let the fun begin.
BRAND STORY
A legacy built for the road
1970s
In the '70s, while families gathered around the newfangled video boxes (TVs, of course!), we began to make a name for ourselves, acquiring competitors, delivering new products and selling internationally for the first time. Look out, TVs! We’ve got an idea for family time too.
1980s
Jayco was established among the powers of the RV industry in the '80s. We also mourned the loss of our fearless leader, Lloyd, in a tragic plane crash. That did not stop the momentum, instead, we doubled down on the vision for family fun.
1990s
In the '90s, Jayco acquired Starcraft, one of the oldest and most respected builders of campers. Lloyd was inducted into the RV Hall of Fame. We built and shipped our 300,000th unit in 1997, and completed our new corporate headquarters in Middlebury, Indiana.
2000s
In 2002, Jayco introduced the Jay Flight travel trailers, the #1 selling travel trailers in North America for thirteen years. In 2006, we shipped our 500,000th unit and introduced the Talon toy hauler. In 2008, we acquired Travel Supreme assets and launched the Entegra Coach division.
2016
Between Jayco, Starcraft RV, Entegra Coach and Highland Ridge RV, we celebrated our 1,000,000th unit in May 2016.
On July 1st of that same year, Jayco Corporation was acquired by Thor Industries.
TODAY
Fast forward to the '20s, a global pandemic reawakened the desire to get outside, sparking another golden age for the RV community.
Today, Jayco, Entegra Coach, Highland Ridge and Starcraft are unified as the Jayco Family of Companies.
